After a decade of career, Redminder ‘Redser’ Paul has confirmed his retirement from mixed martial arts on his social media channels.
Redmond finished with a record of 8-15, which was distributed in several organizations, including the UFC and Bellator.
He is one of a long list of Cage Warriors Irish veterans who have fought eight times on the organization’s cards.
The 35-year-old once fought for the BAMMA lightweight title and suffered a majority defeat to Norman Park.
The Irish MMA fighter was part of the national leap in the sport from the early to mid-2010s, led by former UFC lightweight and lightweight champion Connor McGregor.
His last fight at the Bellator 240 took place in February 2020 against Georgy Karakanian – Redmondi lost in the second round by a guillotine.
Redsar Statement As for his decision to put aside his gloves, he said: “I just wanted to disappear into the background and not mention it, but a lot of people ask me ‘when will I be out again’ and I always do. I say oh soon and so on.
“But the truth is, you probably don’t see me doing my job in an mma cage anymore.
“I thought about it long and hard, I talked to the big boy @coach_andyryan_ My family and so on and I think now is a good time to get out of MMA.
25 professional fights, a full amateur career, but the injuries start to increase in every fight camp and I have not done the last 2 fights because of them.
Along with other things I do in my life with work and so on. There is no time to go to war camps the way I used to and fight the way I do.
“It also does not make sense to lose love for it financially, there is nothing left to give to the sport.
“If it weren’t for the big boy @coach_andyryan_ I still kick the rocks that the man led me to heights I never knew existed and I will be thankful forever.
“I have never had the greatest impact on my friend, but I have never said no to anyone and I have always fought anyone in front of me in a day, a week, a month … Think of anyone who came to see my fight. He knew what he was getting, I enjoyed it, to all my teammates, training partners, and friends I have met over the years, you have made the last 13 years unforgettable, so thank you for the memories.
