IMG guides Porter McMichael and Dr. Emily Johnston were on the Puebla route this morning. Yesterday was a big day for the team, but it was worth it for everyone to stand together at the top! After the Iztaccihuatl descent (17,159 minutes), the team headed to Puebla for a hot shower, a great dinner and a good rest. “We found a great pizza in Puebla and did our best to eat a lot,” Emily said. Emily and Porter posted some great photos of the climb from Iztaccihuatl. It is interesting to see Popocatépetl (17802 ‘) in the distance with no snow near the summit!

The team is now heading to Tlachichuca, where they have made a great call to set up an itinerary by spending an extra night at the fantastic Sr Reyes Hospitality. They organize the equipment and move to the Piedra Grande cottage in the morning, which puts them in a position to reach the summit of Pico de Orizaba (18,491 minutes) on Saturday.
